1. Me: What made you decide to cut your hair to the deliciously pretty way it is now?
2. Her: As a slap in the face to gender codes and the concept that long flowing hair=ideal beauty for a woman, because I had hair past my shoulders and it didn’t look nearly as good as my short hair does. What’s funny is I thought all of the girls would like it and the boys would be like “ew short hair she looks like a boy.” But it was the opposite.
